dear cilla

you arrived as a hidden extra..
the rest of the rescue clan here first and then a week later you were deposited with us, forgotten in the intial rescue but safe with us at last...
i will never forget your sweet head popping out of the box complete with your fetching hair-do..
we worried as you were so much smaller than the rest of the clan and feared you may be bullied..
i watched you so carefully like a protective mother hen but i needn't have worried as from day one you looked after yourself and plonked yourself firmly near the top of the pecking order....

perhaps you knew you were special, the only one who lay the much admired blue egg....

finding you today laying so so still, already gone was an awful shock ..
only yesterday we had to scoop you up as yet again you were the very last hen in at bedtime, how i wish i had held you closer, known that it would have been the very last time...

we rarely name our hens but you were special and you will be missed

farewell cilla
you were an exceptional hen

  2. Oh Cilla.
At least you know that her final days were happy, with you. Jx

  3. So sorry for the loss of your hen :( May she rest in peace.

  4. I am so very sorry that you lost this dear little hen. What a sweetie she was - love the photos. Take care and God bless.

  5. So sad to lose , especially a blue egger(my Daughters favourite as they taste nicer) but at least she was given a loving home in her later years.

  6. My first visit here.
So sorry to here about your little henny Cilla. I glad she was taken care of though in her last days. Thank you for looking after all the animals. It takes a very special person to do that.
