Sunday, October 7

why hello october, i rather like you...

we have been treated to a beautiful weekend of gentle warmth and sunshine

and actual blue skies...

so instead of walking around completing my chores with my chin face down in a scarf, i have looked up and noticed the changing of the season...

the forest we live in is mainly pine, which makes the groups of native trees around our patch of land so very very precious...

portland jim has been moved to a new field which i am not entirely sure he is happy about, the walls are too high for him to be able to see passers by, i think another move is needed...

the rescue horses continue to flourish, each day they get not only a little rounder but also a little more trusting of humans...
they will soon be ready for the next stage of handling...
such beautiful boys

the leaves are beginning to fall and very soon i shall have to attempt to find time to sweep as much away as possible
this saturday we had a very lovely helper for the morning who made such a difference to my day, just having a few less things to do myself meant i could spend a little more time on other parts of the farm...

at the moment all of our extra time and energy is being taken up trying to control this pair...
for some reason they have decided over the last few days that the enormous field that is there very own is simply not enough, so they have walked through many many walls and rampaged around the entire farm scattering chickens, ducks and sheep as they go!

we have had to reinforce every heavy farm gate as roxi can easily lift them completely off their hinges with her snout, incredible strength!
they are very lucky that we love them as they are seriously testing our patience at the moment..

thankfully not all our residents are quite as naughty..
i caught this sweet portland having a tiny mid morning nap..

  2. Oh so sweet, the last picture.

If a pig can find a means of escape, it will. And, as I found from experience, it is not easy to move them if they don't want to go..!
